A civilization is not measured solely by its wealth, its power, or its technological achievements.
It is measured by the way it protects its children.
For children are not only the future of a nation.
They are its promise.
They represent what is most precious, most fragile, and most innocent within our humanity.
They are the eyes that still marvel at what adults no longer notice.
They are the minds discovering the world before the world begins to shape them.
Yet never have the dangers been so numerous.
Some are visible.
Others are far more subtle.
They are found on screens.
In smartphones.
Across social media.
In content that is not appropriate for their age.
In role models that sometimes confuse fame with worth, consumption with happiness, and provocation with success.
Never before has a generation had access to so much information.
Yet never before has it been exposed so early to so many influences.
The danger is not only physical.
It is also psychological, moral, and cultural.
For some wounds leave no mark on the body.
Yet they can shape a conscience for years.
They influence the way children see themselves, see others, and understand the world around them.
A society that exposes its children too early to violence, vulgarity, hatred, or the relentless obsession with consumption eventually steals something invaluable from them:
The right to simply be children.
Childhood is not a weakness.
It is a treasure.
It is the age when we learn to dream.
To trust.
To wonder.
To believe that goodness still exists.
To build before learning to defend ourselves.
Every child should have the right to grow up in an environment that nourishes intelligence rather than fear.
That develops curiosity rather than dependency.
That elevates the mind rather than trapping it in the endless noise of our age.
For a child does not need to be exposed to everything in order to be prepared for life.
A child must first be protected in order to understand it.
One of the greatest mistakes of our time is the belief that everything accessible should also be accessible to children.
As if freedom meant showing everything.
When sometimes true freedom lies in knowing what must be preserved.
A society that no longer protects the innocence of its children gradually loses its own innocence.
For when a people cease to place children among their highest priorities, they begin sacrificing their future for the excesses of the present.
The children of today will become the adults of tomorrow.
And whatever a civilization plants in their minds, it will one day reap in its destiny.
Protecting a child is not merely protecting a life.
It is protecting a future.
It is protecting everything that child may one day become.
Perhaps even a part of humanity itself.
